Granny celebrated her 90th birthday last August, but ever since then her body began to shut down and the Lord took Granny home last week. I guess the Lord enjoys Granny’s incredible cookies and lufsa as much as we do and wanted her to do some cooking for Him. It is very sad to lose someone like Granny who has been a part of so many lives over all these years. I have known her now for just about 16 years and thank the Lord that she helped to raise the wonderful woman that is my wife. Granny was the BEST and everyone who knew her is a better person because of her.

Even though we celebrate that she is no longer in pain and she is living eternally through Christ Jesus, we are still saddened by her loss and that we won’t get to swing by and visit any longer. My poor wife is taking it especially hard because she grew up living with Granny until we got married and Granny spent all those years raising Dayna with her mom while her mom worked hard a single mother to provide for Dayna. Dayna and Granny were as close as you can get to someone here on Earth and is trying to cope with the loss. Please pray for Dayna and for the rest of the family as we go through the grieving process while also staying focused on the fact that our beloved Granny is waiting for us in heaven and will have us over to visit when we join her.

Today we say goodbye to President George Bush and hello to Barack Obama. I was happy that George W. won the election back in 2000 because we needed someone with integrity and a sense of honor to replace the scum before that soiled the White House and any sense of moral behavior we expect from our top leader. Bush came into office at a tough time when things were not secure and the economy was on the way downwards. He was challenged fairly quickly with 9-11 and demonstrated good leadership. He stepped up to the plate and helped secure America and demonstrate to terrorists that you shouldn’t mess with our free country.

President Bush wasn’t the best public speaker, by a long shot, but you always knew where he stood because he didn’t waver with the polls or change his beliefs and opinions to match the popular opinion of the day. I respected him and his faith.

Unfortunately, I think he failed in many areas this last term and didn’t stand up and speak out when he needed to most. He seemed to let things just happen and needed to stand up and take charge. I strongly believe that no matter which Republican ran for office this past election there was little chance of a win given the constant comparisons to Bush. Then again, Ron Paul was pretty revolutionary for a Republican and had some great ideas that could have garnered lots of support.

Goodbye Mr. Bush and God Bless you for your efforts. I truly believe Bush actually does love this country (unlike past Presidents who were more selfish than anything) and wanted the best for it, but maybe he just didn’t know how to get it done these last couple of years.

I am not a fan of President Barack Obama for many reasons, but since he is our President I will support and pray for him. I truly hope he does help people step up to the plate and work hard to improve conditions in the U.S. I just fear that he will continue the Democratic way of taking money from hard working Americans to give to those who don’t work hard and freeload off the backs of the working class. We can’t afford to continue holding people back from personal responsibility and action and need to enable people to get out of the cycle of welfare. Remember too, Barack is just a man like you and I and is not some type of superhero from Krypton that was sent here to save the planet.

I wanted to say I am sorry to the 15 people who visit this blog in hopes that I might actually post something. Since I last posted I guess I have gone through some depression with the election of a man as President with no experience in leadership (pray hard for our country to get through this phase of our history), apprehension as Granny’s condition worsens (pray for her and her comfort), joy (my oldest earned her varsity soccer letter in high school and was picked up by a select team), and more. I have been very busy at work traveling to places like Houston, D.C., Pennsylvania, and Alaska. My two ZDNet blogs are also doing VERY well and is a very exciting opportunity for me to write and share my experience in mobility with the world.

The Lord continues to bless me and my family beyond anything I could have hoped for and I really do not deserve all of these blessings. I am trying to share as many of those blessings with others, particularly in regards to finances at our church since I know many people are struggling during this uncertain economic time in our country.

I have been trying to stick a bit longer with devices and use them to their potential (tough when readers want me to review so many devices) rather than buying everything on the market. I just sent back several Nseries devices and review units as I clean out the clutter and try to stay focused.

I am reading my Bible a lot more with the AMAZING PocketBible application on my HTC Fuze and again could never give up a Windows Mobile device just for this application alone.

I’ll try to update this site a bit more, but won’t make any promises as I start coaching a 3rd/4th grade girls basketball team and run my other daughters around to soccer and basketball.

As readers know I am a conservative Christian man and already voted for John McCain. I wanted someone more conservative than him, but there is no other choice this election. I honestly cannot believe the Democratic party actually has Obama as their candidate. This guy has no right even being considered for President and if he gets elected we might as well have voted for my neighbor next door who probably has more experience actually leading people than Obama does. This post at Sound Politics clearly supported the viewpoint that McCain is the only choice and I pray McCain actually wins on Tuesday.

If not, I honestly have significant concern for America if Congress and the people let Obama actually implement some of his planned initiatives. If you think the economy is bad now, I think we’ll find it in much worse shape when Obama gives money back to those that don’t pay taxes and then punishes those that pay almost all of the taxes already.

Thankfully, God is in charge of my life and I am not fearful of anything and welcome His return to take me to a much better place.

Unfortunately, Granny continues to have medical issues and with her congenital heart disease her lungs are filling up with fluid. They gave her some meds to eliminate the fluid and help her breathing, but you can’t use it too long or it impacts your kidneys. She is back in the hospital and trying to gain her strength again so she can return to her daughter’s house (my mother-in-law) for care at home.

People enjoyed my list about my wife so I am making a 90 things I love about Granny list right now and will put together the storyboard very soon for her to enjoy in the hospital. Please pray for her continued medical issues and easing of the fairly constant pain she lives in.

My wife turned 40 on September 13th and as part of her gift I put together one of those foldable poster board displays with lots of photos of her over the years along with 40 things I love about my wife. My daughters asked if I could come up with 40, but actually after I started listing them I had well over 60 within just a few minutes and could have kept on going. Here are the 40 I put on her display. I look forward to doing the same thing in another 40 years.

Of course, I was going to vote for McCain this fall since I value the safety and security of this country above all else since nothing else matters if the terrorists rule and I think Obama has no clue when it comes to the security of this country. I am much more excited now that Palin has been announced as the VP candidate and thinks she will fire up the conservative base, which is critical for the Republicans to win. She has some great beliefs, is a mother and wife, is young and energetic, and her record in Alaska looks like she is against all the corruption and unethical behavior in politics. The left may harp on her experience, but they have no room to talk when they are asking people to vote for Obama as the President with little experience.

Palin is running as the VP and not the President and it seems that every thing I have been reading lately sounds like they are counting on McCain passing away in office to make Palin the President. She is running as the VP, which you have to admit seems to be a role that we rarely ever hear about. The President and VP are not making decisions by themselves and personally I look at who the candidates surround themselves with as the real test to see how the country will be run.

My oldest daughter is a freshman in high school this year (we have 9-12th graders in our high school) and over the last three days she has been trying out for the soccer team. We just found out today that she actually made the VARSITY team! This is quite an accomplishment for high school and we are all very excited. I think I’ll have to go find her something nice as a congratulations gift while I am here in Singapore.

She will be busy playing club and high school soccer while my middle daughter will be playing club soccer and my youngest will be playing select soccer. As you can see we will be living soccer this fall and winter.

Thank God for my wonderful family and all the blessings he has given me.
