Granny celebrated her 90th birthday last August, but ever since then her body began to shut down and the Lord took Granny home last week. I guess the Lord enjoys Granny’s incredible cookies and lufsa as much as we do and wanted her to do some cooking for Him. It is very sad to lose someone like Granny who has been a part of so many lives over all these years. I have known her now for just about 16 years and thank the Lord that she helped to raise the wonderful woman that is my wife. Granny was the BEST and everyone who knew her is a better person because of her.

Even though we celebrate that she is no longer in pain and she is living eternally through Christ Jesus, we are still saddened by her loss and that we won’t get to swing by and visit any longer. My poor wife is taking it especially hard because she grew up living with Granny until we got married and Granny spent all those years raising Dayna with her mom while her mom worked hard a single mother to provide for Dayna. Dayna and Granny were as close as you can get to someone here on Earth and is trying to cope with the loss. Please pray for Dayna and for the rest of the family as we go through the grieving process while also staying focused on the fact that our beloved Granny is waiting for us in heaven and will have us over to visit when we join her.

My heart hurts after reading all of the blog posts that Rob has made on his blog regarding the struggles the family is dealing with. Their daughter Maggie is suffering from brain seizures and the doctors are doing all they can to determine exactly where the source is so they can attempt to treat them. As a father of three daughters, I can understand a bit of the extreme heartache that Rob is suffering as he watches over his daughter. As humans, we feel so helpless during these times and get frustrated that we cannot do more for our loved ones. I am relieved to know that Rob, Kathi, and their family is relying on the strength of the Lord during this difficult time, but even then it is still hard for us to understand the “why” of it all.

Please read Rob’s prayer request list and join me in praying for this family.

My wife’s grandma, Helen Bolstad, is turning 90 here in just a couple of weeks and unfortunately was just hospitalized with major stomach issues. The doctors discovered she has some blocked arteries to her stomach, preventing it from fully functioning. They are performing angioplasty (sp?) today to try to open up the arteries and increase blood flow to her stomach. At 90 years old with some other medical issues, even fairly basic surgeries can be dangerous so please pray for her full recovery.

Granny is a wonderful woman of the Lord who has raised 5 kids and serves as the rock upon which their family stands. My wife lived with Granny all her life and she took care of and was a major participant in raising my wife since her mom worked to support the family as a single mother. I also ask that people pray for peach for my wife and other family members as Granny means the world to us and we want her to continue to bless us with her presence for another 10+ years.

UPDATE: The surgery went very well today and the unclogged/stinted the two arteries. Granny already has color back in her face and is feeling better. Thank you all for your prayers, it really does work people!

The news keeps getting better for those of us looking to carry the Bible on our iPhones as I just stumbled upon OliveTree’s BibleReader on my iPhone in the App store. I installed it and found several translations available, but none I particularly prefer. There doesn’t seem to be anyway to add or removed translations from your device either. At this time it is only a reader with no advanced functionality like the Mantis one I mentioned earlier (notes, bookmarks, etc.). It us free though so the price is right to give it a go.

Cancer has had a major impact on my family and friends and I hate the disease and pray daily for those who are afflicted. I pray that God assists the doctors in search of cures and also that those impacted by cancer positively touch the lives of those who know them.

at least IMHO My wife and I were married 15 years ago and today will be celebrating by spending a weekend alone in our favorite hotel in Seattle. Did you know that we actually met each other and were married in a mere 17 days? We were both Christians and felt secure in knowing that we were designed for each other and neither one of us felt that nervous those 15 years ago. God is good, all the time!

My wife is an amazing woman who actually became pregnant with our first daughter just one month after we were married and has been the best mother any person could ask for so my girls are very blessed. We have had lots of good times and a few bad over the years, but we continue to love and enjoy each other. My love for her actually grows every year and I am happy for this since we plan to be together for a LONG time.

Thanks Dayna, for putting up with me all these years, I know it hasn’t been easy all the time. Love and marriages are never easy and are not designed to be easy. I wish more people would make the right choice and work hard to stick with it over the years though so we had less divorces. It makes a HUGE difference if God is at the center of your lives too.

I posted about the release a couple weeks ago and with lots of new devices to evaluate I have been installing PocketBible 4 on them (if they are Windows Mobile) so I can read on the train ride in and out of town. They really took it to the next level with the layout saving capability, scrolling page turns, highlighting and notes support in non-touch screen devices, maximize windows, flick gestures, and much more.

It looks absolutely fantastic on the high resolution display of the HTC Touch Diamond that I am evaluating and with a super small device like this it is easy to have the Bible with you at all times.

Wow, some people online are amazing how they can be so rude and self-serving. I don’t want to get into details since there is a long history of someone I know disrespecting a ton of people (media, public relations, bloggers, etc.) for their own self-serving needs, but I am a bit ticked off that anyone would question my integrity. As a Christian man of the Lord I hold myself to a high level of honesty and truthfulness and would never sell myself out for a silly mobile device. Readers here and on my ZDNet blog know that I always lay it out as I see it and never gloss over or hide any facts about devices because of my integrity and my desire to make sure you all can make the best purchase decisions for yourselves.

The fact that some fool questions me isn’t an issue since that is their right, but to so rudely post publicly about it without the courtesy to contact me first to discuss the issue is uncalled for. Maybe I have newer firmware on my device so my experience is different. Maybe the person should watch my videos where I clearly show exactly what I am talking about. One reason I now do a lot of videos is so that you experience exactly what I am experiencing.

Wouldn’t it be nice if common courtesy and respect was brought back to our society? Let’s make a difference and try to lead by example OK folks.
