I just found out that the PPC 2003 OS and new iPaqs probably will not be released until at least June 23rd so I went ahead and bought the new in box iPaq 3955. I am looking forward to my first iPaq with a large 3.8" display and rock solid performance. I am looking at getting a Silver Slider to add CF functionality to use my CF accessories and see there are a few choices. If I like this model I may stick with it for a while and if not then I'll sell it on ebay and get a 2200 or something.

I believed that the 2200 was going to be released in May and that would be today, which is highly unlikely since it is a Friday. I then just read in the forums from a fairly reliable source that the new date is June 23rd. I have been without a Pocket PC too long and thus found a decent deal on a new iPaq 3955. If I am happy with it then I may wait longer to see the 2200 and make sure it is what I really want. The 3.8" display and rock solid performance of the 3900 is very tempting to me and the fact that I can upgrade it to PPC 2003 anyway.
I am having issues with my Z. I loaded the 3.1 ROM, but can't load many software applications (I get a continuous error in the installer program) and still haven't gotten my Sony WiFi card to work. I am going back to OZ 3.2 this weekend since my WiFi card worked out of the box with it and I really don't use it much for a PDA and basically use it as an experimental gadget to run Linux stuff.
I don't use the Newton much because I am so busy now that summer is upon us and the outdoor work is piling up.

I'm back from my cruise to the Caribbean and had a great time! The Royal Caribbean ship, Adventure of the Seas, was incredible and I highly recommend it as a vacation alternative. I was very unimpressed with Aruba because it was so flat, dry, and ugly. St. Thomas was awesome and we are already thinking about a family vacation back there in a couple years. I only used my Palm to read and play games on the airplane and didn't even look at it on the cruise.
I was hoping my iPaq 2200 would be out when I got back, but there is still no sign of it. I hope May 30th or June 1st are the day of release and doubt the July date that is floating around.

I just downloaded and installed the new ROM 3.10 for my Z and it seems to be much faster. I have to manually configure the config files to use my WiFi card since I am using an Intel Pro model that never gets included in the ROM. I would love to play with it some more, but I am heading out on my weeklong cruise tomorrow so have to put it aside for a week. No more posts will be up for at least a week.

I don't think a new CLIE is coming as soon as we thought since Sony just announced a new gaming device and a thorough search of the FCC site shows no new Sony device with wireless capabilities, either Bluetooth or 802.11b. I'm still holding out for a May release of my 2200 though.

Today is May 13th and the new Sharp Zaurus ROM may be released. I have been checking the Zaurus Devnet forums about every 5 minutes for the download, but no luck yet. It is only 7am so maybe when 9am PDT rolls around it will be up. I am pretty excited about the ROM update since it adds many features from the new SL5600 model, including Opera 6. I see there is also someone trying to get more than 10 people together to buy C700 devices for $495 each, which looks pretty sweet and I am tempted by the proposal.
I continue to follow the rumors around the 2200 and new CLIEs, but no news yet. I am finishing up my review of the Palm Zire 71 and think it is a decent device, but I would never personally buy one for myself.

Well, I only lasted a couple of days on that Atkins diet. I don't really like bacon and eggs and you are pretty limited to meat and eggs for at least the first two weeks. I am too much of a bread and pasta fan and figure I can do fine just keeping up my exercise and showing a little restraint at the table.
I am anxiously awaiting the release of the iPaq 2200 that I saw and held at our last user group meeting and heard that both CompUSA and BestBuy have them in their systems now so they should be out soon. I hope the HP guy was correct when he said late May and I can pick this up after my cruise. I also see the rumors flying around concerning a new CLIE or two. I personally don't think anything can knock me off my NX70 unless it is the same thing with a lit keyboard, more RAM, and Bluetooth. A non-clamshell doesn't really appeal to me because I personally like the keyboard and use it quite often. I also don't want to lose the CF slot, especially now that I have the EruWare driver that allows me to use any CF storage card in my CLIE. Rumors state models with two MS slots which means there may not be another CF model released. You could also pick up the CF WiFi card last month for $16 so I think Sony must not like the fact that someone hacked their CF slot and thus no more models with it. CliePlanet stated that an announcement may come sometime from Monday through Wednesday this week. We'll see.

Well after working with Laridian and reading people's input at ClieSource I now have a working version of MyBible 3. The fix was to load the previous version of the software and then install the new version over the top of it. There must have been something messed up in the prefs file that was not getting installed for some reason. I started my review last night and have to say I am pretty happy with the software so far, which is to be expected considering they make an outstanding PocketBible product.
I am going on a cruise in a couple weeks and decided to start the Atkins diet. I am about 20-25 pounds heavier than I would like to be and have a real problem with lots of breads and desserts. I have a serious sweet tooth and hope this new eating philosophy will curb that desire. I also run and lift weights so I should be in great shape after getting going with Atkins. I know quite a few people on this diet, but not one of them workout which I think is pretty funny because even though they may be losing weight they are getting no cardio work and are still way out of shape.

I can't tell you have frustrated I am today. As I posted yesterday, I was extremely excited to see that Laridian released a version of MyBible for the Palm platform that supported the CLIE HiRes+ display. However, after loading it and a translation I tapped the icon to launch it and received a white screen of death and had to soft reset my device to get it going again. I tried several more times and even performed a hard reset to take my device back to a factory state, all without reaching resolution. I don't know what is going on, but I can't even begin to review it if I can't start the program. Is satan trying to keep me from reading this Bible or what?

I bought a T-Mobile Sidekick the day it was released last year, but after not being able to get service around my home I sold it to another person after about 4 months. The device was awesome for surfing anywhere (where you could get a signal) and I really enjoyed the way they built the operating system to work with the scroll wheel and keyboard. I am posting a blurb tomorrow at PDAGeek about the news that the color version is coming next month. Besides adding color this version increased the processor speed, increased the RAM, and increased the battery life. I may be tempted, but until I get a decent T-Mobile signal at all times I won't be jumping on the bandwagon this time.
I was excited to see the news on Pocket PC Thoughts that the new MyPalm version 3.0 of the Laridian Bible series was released today with support for the Hi-Res+ display on my CLIE NX70V. Their servers were seriously overloaded as they also released several free Bible versions, an Amplified Bible, and updated Pocket Bible reader program. I waited until almost midnight to download and it still took some time. I plan on checking out the MyBible 3 version tomorrow during my vanpool ride into town and will be working on a review of it for PDAGeek.
I just posted two new reviews at Pocket PC Life and only have one more product to review before my time with them is complete. I left to focus more resources on PDAGeek, my family, and my church. By the way the site was recently sold by James Borden so there may be some new changes to it soon, including a new forum.
The pastor of our new church, New Life Family Fellowship just asked me to pray about becoming the first elder. We have been around almost 2 years and have a congregation of about 70. I know the website is still rough and I plan to get it upgraded soon. I was using the red and green as test colors and there just isn't that many "connected" people in the church that visit the site.

I posted a blurb for PDAGeek today concerning the announcement that FitalyStamp 3 has been released. If you haven't tried Fitaly before then I recommend you give it a try. There is a learning curve, but your text entry speed should improve significantly. I actually was in the top 15 in the last Dom Perignon speed contest with over 60 wpm. After researching a bit for my blurb I found versions of Fitaly for the Apple Newton 2000, Sharp Zaurus 5500, CLIE NX 70, and Pocket PC. I am excited that I can now use Fitaly on all my PDAs!
