palmOne provides updates for Treo 650 devices
Sure, now that I sold off my awesome Treo 650 package (leather case, extra battery, sync/charge cable, screen protector, etc) palmOne decides to finally issue a ROM update that fixes the memory allocation issue and may also fix the volume problems. The memory deal didn't bother me much, but the low volume was the killer for me. I emailed the guy who bought mine to make sure he knew of the update and he replied that the Treo was NOT FOR SALE:) Dang, I thought I may have been able to swing a deal to bring it back.
It really is a nice piece of hardware for the most part and I saw a ton of them being used in airports on my crazy May trips. I am content with what I have now and am able to get over the desire more quickly now that I have my head on straight. At least I think I am ...

I just bought a Treo 650 and I'm still trying to figure out if I want to keep it. I have a Axim x50 and really don't want two devices to carry around.

I've been very happy with the 650 except for the low volume as you mentioned. After doing the firmware update, I can finally hear other people without pressing the device in my ear canal.
Can still be a little challenging in a noisy environment. In that case, I switch the phone into speakerphone mode and still use it the same.

I am finding that a Treo would be a great addition for myself as well. But giving up the copious screen and much used internal RAM of my Tungsten T5 is something else to consider. Nice to see the updates though. This is a good thing on palmOne's part.
